The Many Versions of You – And the one you’ve been missing most.

The Many Versions of You – And the one you’ve been missing most.

Throughout your life, you've learned to become many things.

  • Responsible.
  • Helpful.
  • Strong.
  • Accommodating.
  • Professional.
  • Reliable.

None of these are bad.

In fact, they may have helped you build a beautiful life.

They helped you raise families, build careers, support friends, navigate challenges, and keep moving forward when life demanded more from you than felt fair.

Over time, those roles can become so familiar that you stop noticing them.

You simply become the person who steps in when something needs to be done.

The person others count on.

The person who figures things out.

And because you're good at it, people come to depend on you.

The challenge is that after years of paying attention to everyone else, it can become easy to overlook yourself.

Not all at once. Gradually.

So gradually that you may not even realize it's happening.

Until one day, the question quietly appears:

Which version of me is actually me?

Maybe you've felt that.

Maybe life got quiet for a moment, and you realized you weren't quite sure what brings you joy anymore.

Or what energizes you.

Or what you would choose if no one else needed anything from you.

There's nothing wrong with adapting. Most of us do it every day.

But after years of adjusting to the needs, expectations, and personalities around you, it can become difficult to tell where everyone else ends, and you begin.

Sometimes I picture it as a chameleon.

Not because there's anything wrong with changing colors when the situation calls for it.

But because after years of changing colors to fit every environment around you, it can become difficult to remember your own.

The beautiful thing is that the version of you you've been missing isn't actually gone.

You haven't lost her.

She may simply have gotten buried beneath years of responsibilities, expectations, and habits that formed without you even noticing.

Beneath all the roles you've carried, there is still a part of you that knows what feels right.

Beneath all the roles you've carried, there is still a part of you that knows what feels right.

That part knows what brings you joy, gives you energy, and matters most.

You may simply not have had much reason to listen lately.

Perhaps the question to ask yourself isn't:

"Who am I?"

Perhaps the question is:

"Who am I when I'm not trying to be what everyone else needs me to be?"

Becoming Unshatterable isn't about becoming someone new.

It's about getting to know yourself again.

About hearing your own voice beneath all the roles you've carried.

And remembering the color that was yours all along. 🦎
