Letting Go Without Forcing It

Letting Go Without Forcing It

There’s a moment that begins to happen after you’ve started to see your thoughts instead of automatically believing them.

A little space opens. It doesn’t feel like a dramatic shift. Just enough to notice, “That’s just a thought… not me.”

And this is where most people stop—they see it, but they don’t move it through the body.

They stop short of real change.

They understand it in their heads, but their bodies are still tight and armored, still holding everything in place.

Recently, I heard Gabor Maté say something that landed deeply. He spoke about how women often carry not only their own emotional load, but also the emotional energy of their children, their partners, and, because of the way our world is structured, far more of the collective weight than truly belongs to them.

You can feel that when you pause long enough. So even though the mind has shifted, the experience hasn’t fully changed yet.

And this is where we move next.

What’s Actually Happening (This Is the Magic)

You’re not just learning a concept. You’re moving through a real progression.

You were identifying with every thought. Now you’re beginning to see thoughts more clearly. And from here, you start to release what your body has been holding.

That last step is what changes everything.

Because your body has been carrying the impact of those thoughts for a long time, through tension, through a tight jaw, through a held breath, through that low hum of pressure running underneath your day.

Letting go isn’t about telling your mind to stop. It’s about allowing your body to soften and let go, little by little.

Letting Go Isn’t Force

This next step is where so many capable women get stuck.

They try to let go. They push and override. They are told and tell themselves to “just relax.”

But your body doesn’t respond to force. It responds to safety.

Letting go is not pushing something away. It’s about creating enough steadiness within yourself so your body feels safe enough to release what it’s been holding, little by little, at your own pace.

Just a Bit

Instead of trying to change everything at once, what if you shifted just a little? I’m asking for a 5% shift.

That 5% can allow your shoulders to drop, a relaxing sigh to escape your lips, and your jaw to relax its grip.

That’s how this work actually happens. Through small, honest shifts, your body can trust.

With repetition, your nervous system begins to learn something new: I don’t have to hold this so tightly.

Try This Simple Practice Now

Take a moment now to give this simple experience a go. Not aiming for perfection. Just with open curiosity.

Here are the simple steps:

  • Notice one place in your body that’s holding tension.
  • Bring your attention there without trying to fix it.
  • Take a slow breath in.
  • Exhale and imagine offering that area permission to let go by just 5%.
  • Pause, and repeat once or twice.

That’s it.

You’re not trying to clear it. You’re teaching your body a new option.

Why This Works

Because you’re no longer trying to control your internal world from the outside. You’re changing your relationship with it from the inside.

You’ve already begun to see your thoughts. Now you’re allowing your body to stop carrying them. And this is where something very real begins to shift.

You feel more like yourself again. More steady. More present.

The Moment This Becomes Real

It won’t come from a big breakthrough. It will come from a quiet moment where you notice that you softened and nothing fell apart. In fact, something settled. That’s the moment your system begins to trust that you have this.

A Question to Sit With

What did your body feel like when you allowed it to let go, even just a little?

If this is happening for you, even in the smallest way,
you’re right on time.

You’re on the edge of something real. And this is the work now.

Not forcing or pushing through change. But standing a little more steady inside yourself and letting your body follow.
